The Day of Mab'ath, celebrated on the Rajab 27, is indeed the formal appointment as the Last and Greatest Divine Messenger of the person whose light God had created as the first ever creation eons ago when nothing had yet come into existence.
This is an occasion which stands for the beginning of the Holy Prophet’s Mission of promulgating the true religion of Almighty Allah (swt). On this day, the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his household) was appointed for conveying the Divine Mission of Almighty Allah when Archangel Gabriel first came to him with the Divine Revelation.
The most important thing that can be done on this day is to Understand the greatness of the night and day of the 27th of Rajab.
There is no person greater or higher in rank than the Messenger of Allah (blessings of Allah be upon him and his progeny). He is the leader of all of the creations and the noblest and closest of all of them to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) and the most beloved of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He)!
It is the Prophet Muhammad (blessings of Allah be upon him and his progeny) who is: The First Nur, The Closest Hijab (to Allah), The Greatest Name (of Allah) and there is not a single Prophet or Angel who can even come close to this station. He is also the Mercy to all the Worlds. Therefore, if we see the greatness of an individual and his nobility then we can realize the importance of the day of his official appointment.
It is because of this reason that the importance of giving the Prophet (blessings of Allah be upon him and his progeny) his right is even more important for the Ummah and the Shi`a just as our intelligence dictates.
Just think about what has been said ñ do we accept this? If we accept it then we must take this day seriously and there is nothing else that needs to be said to encourage anyone about this day. Since goodness ñ in itself ñ should pull and attract one to that which is recommended to be done on this day. If what has been said is not accepted, then either we are out of the folds of Islam or our hearts must be corrected so that we can permit Iman (true faith) to enter it.
In summary, the Salik (the one who is spiritually traveling towards Allah) must sincerely try to consider this day as something great and seek to understand and appreciate the blessings of the official appointment and the blessing of the divine light (nur) and all the blessings that the Prophet of Islam (blessings of Allah be upon him and his progeny) has brought including the happiness and goodness - just as he deserves to be understood and appreciated.
We must all look into ourselves and gauge our own happiness on this day. If we see that our happiness and pleasure is the same on this day or more as it is on other days for worldly events and pleasures, then we know that our soul is polluted and we must try to correct it and strive to remove the animalistic traits in us ñ we must try to distance ourselves from the natural world and its pleasures and move closer to the spiritual world and its divine light (nur).
we should sit back and think about the days of Ignorance before the Bi`that of the Prophet and see what a state mankind had reached to. A group of people were Jews; another group Christians; and yet others were idol worshippers. The laws of Islam had been forgotten; people had lost the etiquette of humanity and acted as wild animals. The people had reached to such a low state that they used to bury their new born daughters alive. They took pride in vain talk and activities; did not practice justice in the least and took the rights of other people around them. The strong were subjecting the weak to oppression such that they destroyed the worth and dignity of a person. They hated Scholars and were weary of intelligent people. They took pride in keeping slaves. The broke off all family relations, were busy in gambling and drinking alcohol and were constantly at war with one another. Self gratification and pride were their characteristics and they boasted of being impatient people! Cursing and evil words were common place and vain talk, including lies, back biting, etc were the norm. They killed the Prophets and their successors and helpers, and in their place they permitted the lowest amongst themselves to lead the society!
In such an environment did Allah raise a Prophet for the task of, as it is mentioned in the Quran: It is He who has sent to the illiterate a Messenger from among their own people to recite to them His revelations and purify them. He will teach the Book to them Wisdom even though before this they were in manifest error.
Imam Muhammad Taqi (`a) was quoted as saying, "Verily, there is a night in the month of Rajab, which surpasses what the sun shines on; it is the 26th night of Rajab that in its (coming) morning Prophet Muhammad (s) was sent on prophetic mission. Verily, every Shiite (our follower) who observes the practices of this night will be rewarded what equals the reward of sixty years of worship."
It is advisable to perform Ghusl on this night.
Shaykh al-Tusi, in his book of Misbah al-Mutahajjid, has quoted Imam Muhammad al-Jawad (peace be upon him) as saying, “There is a night in Rajab, which carries for people fortune that is more preferable than whatever is subjected to sunlight. It is the twenty-seventh night of Rajab. The next morning was the beginning of the Holy Prophet’s prophethood. Verily, one who does acts of worship at this night will have the reward of one who has worshipped Almighty Allah for sixty years.” When the Imam (peace be upon him) was asked about the kind of acts at this night, he answered, “After you offer the `Isha' Prayer and sleep, you may wake up before midnight and offer the following salaahOffer a prayer of twelve units (6x2), in each of which you may recite Surah al-Fatihah and any Surah from Surahs 47 - 114 once each.
After the prayers recite the following 7 times each:

The best act that is ever done at this night is to visit the holy tomb of Imam `Ali ibn Abi-Talib (peace be upon him) and recite his ziyarah:
Three forms of ziyarah have been mentioned for the date of 27th Rajab:
1.Ziyarah specifically for the Night and Day of 27th Rajab
2.Ziyarah Rajabiyah for the Night of 27th Rajab
3.Fourth Form of Ziyarah of Imam Ali (peace be upon him)for the Day of 27th Rajab
Abu-`Abdullah Muhammad ibn Battutah, a famous Arab writer and explorer, who lived six centuries ago and is considered a Sunni master scholars, mentions the holy mausoleum of our master Imam `Ali Amir al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him) in his famous book comprising all his views and adventures during his journeys and entitled al-Rihlah. In this book, he mentions that on his way back from Holy Makkah, he passed by the holy city of Najaf. He further says, “All the inhabitants of this city are Rafidah.( ) This mausoleum (of Imam `Ali) has shown many miraculous signals. One of these miraculous signs was that at the twenty-seventh night of Rajab, which they call laylat al-mahya (The Night of Staying Up), handicapped individuals from Iraq, Khurasan, Persia, and even Rome are gathered near the holy mausoleum. As they become thirty or forty persons, they are placed above the holy tomb after offering the `Isha' Prayer while the people are waiting how they will stand up sound and healthy. As they are engaged with prayers, invocations, supplications, and Qur'anic recitations, all those handicapped people stand up sound and healthy at nearly midnight, shouting, ‘There is no god save Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and `Ali is the Intimate Saint of Allah.’
In al-Balad al-Amin, al-Kaf`ami has & Sayyid Ibn Tawus has also mentioned that this prayer is said on the Divine Mission Night/Day (i.e. the twenty-seventh of Rajab):

Shaykh al-tusy has also reported a similar prayer
:Abu’l-Qasim Husayn ibn Ruh may Allah have mercy upon him— as saying, “On this day, you may offer a prayer consisting of 12 Rak`ahs at each of which you may recite Surah of al-Fatihah and any other Surah After each couple of Rak`ahs, you may say the followingWhen you finish the prayer, you should recite Surahs of al-Fatihah, al-Tawhid, al-Falaq, al-Nas, al-Kafirun, al-Qadr, and Ayat al-Kursiy seven times. You should then repeat the following seven times:
You should then say the following seven times:
After that, you may submit your needs.
Recite the Dua by Imam Kazim(as) from Iqbal Aamal in next Tab
As is mentioned in ‘Iqbal al-A`mal’ and some manuscripts of ‘Misbah al-Mutahajjid’, it is recommended to recite the following supplication on this day: This supplication, which is one of the excellent supplications of Rajab, was recited by Imam Musa ibn Ja`far al-Kazim (a.s) on the day when the ruling authorities took him to Baghdad. That day was the twenty-seventh of Rajab
