[Qur., 13:15]“It refers to the supplication before sunrise and before sunset, and this
is the time when supplications are answered.”-Abū ‘Abdillāh (‘a.s.)
2.First: Imam al-Sadiq (`a) is reported to have said that Imam `Ali ibn al-Husayn Zayn al-`Abidin (`a) used to begin his day with the following statement
By so, I only desire for Your pleasure and for following Your path.
ilayka alja'tu zahri
To You do I resort
wa ilayka fawwadtu amri
and with You do I entrust my affairs.
alu muhammadin a'immati
The Family of Muhammad are my leaders;
laysa li a'immatun ghayruhum
I have no other leaders than they are.
bihim a'tammu
I follow them,
wa iyyahum atawalla
accede to them,
wa bihim aqtadi
and pattern after their examples.
allahumma ij`alhum awliya'i
O Allah, (please) make them my leaders
fi alddunya wal-akhirati
in this world and in the Hereafter,
waj`alni uwali awliya'ahum
keep me loyalist to their loyalists
wa u`adi a`da'ahum
and enemy of their enemies
fi alddunya wal-akhirati
in this world and in the Hereafter,
wa alhiqni bilssalihina
and include me with the righteous ones,
wa aba'i ma`ahum
along with my ancestors.

4.“When you wake up in the morning, say:
‘I arise a believer in Allāh,upon the religion of Muḥammad and his sunnah, the religion of ‘Alī and
his sunnah, and the religion of the Legatees (i.e. the infallible Imāms) and their sunnah.
I believe in their secrets and open declarations, when they are present or hidden;
and I seek Allāh’s refuge from that which the Messenger of Allāh (ṣ) sought refuge, as did ‘Alī (‘a.s.) and the Legatees;

and there is no might or power except by [the will of] Allāh.’”

Praise be to Allah, Who made me such that I have not died nor am I sick, nor have my veins been infected with disease, nor have I been hauled up for my evil acts, nor am I without progeny, nor have I forsaken my religion, nor do I disbelieve in my Lord, nor do I feel strangeness with my faith, nor is my intelligence affected, nor have I been punished with the punishment of peoples before me. I am a slave in Your possession; I have been guilty of excesses over myself. You have exhausted Your pleas over me and I have no plea (before You). I have no power to take except what You give me and I cannot evade except what You save me from. O Allah! I seek Your protection from becoming destitute despite Your riches, from being misguided despite Your guidance, from being molested in Your realm and from being humiliated while authority rests with You. O Allah! Let my spirit be the first of those good objects that You take from me and the first trust out of Your favors held in trust with me. O Allah! We seek Your protection from turning away from Your command or revolting against Your religion, or being led away by our desires instead of by guidance that comes from You.
3312‒38. ‘Alī ibn Muḥammad (‒) some of his co-sectarians (‒) Muḥam-mad
ibn Sinān (‒) Abū Sa‘īd al-Makārī (‒) Abū Ḥamzah that Abū Ja‘far (‘a.s.) said:
“I asked him: ‘What is meant by the verse wherein Allāh says: And
Ibrāhīm who fulfilled [his duty], [Qur., 53:37]?’ He [‘a.s.] said: ‘Some
words that he pronounced regularly.’ I asked: ‘What were these words?’
He [‘a.s.] said: ‘Whenever he woke up in the morning he would say the
following thrice:And he said the
same thing thrice in the evenings.
“I awake and my Lord be praised. I awake without
ascribing anything as a partner to Allāh, and I do not call upon any other
god with Him, nor do I take any guardian besides Him.”
I asked: ‘What did He mean when He said about Nūḥ: Indeed he
was a grateful servant [Qur., 17:3]?’ He [‘a.s.] replied: ‘Some words that
he pronounced regularly.’ I asked: ‘What were these words?’ He [‘a.s.]
said: ‘Whenever he awoke in the morning he would say: He
would say this thrice every morning and thrice every evening.’
“I wake up taking
You as my witness that whatever I have awoken with of blessings and wellbeing
in my religion or of this world – it is all from You alone, without and
partner. So, all praise belongs to You for this, and plentiful gratitude.”
I further
asked: ‘What did He mean when He said about Yaḥyā: And a compassion
from us and a purity [Qur., 19:13]?’ He [‘a.s.] answered: ‘The compassion
of Allāh.’ I said: ‘What was the compassion of Allāh that reached him?’ He
[‘a.s.] said: ‘Whenever he would say: “My Lord” Allāh, to Whom belong
Might and Majesty would say: “I am here O Yaḥyā!”’”
4 .Eighth: Imam al-Baqir (`a) is reported to have advised following recitations at dawn:
Repeat the following litany ten times
i.la ilaha illa allahu
There is no god save Allah;

One and Only Lord and having no associate with Him.
lahu almulku wa lahu alhamdu
To him is the kingdom and to Him is all praise.

There is no god save Allah.
v.Then, repeat thirty-five times:
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ
alhamdu lillahi
All praise be to Allah.
Whoever says all that at dawn, will not be included with the inadvertent ones on that day. Similarly, whoever says the same at night, will not be included with the inadvertent ones at that night.
Supplication of ilhaah from imam sadiq (a.s.) narrated from imam mahdi (a.s.)
Abu Naeem Ansari says: I was living on rent in Mecca near the Rukn and a group of men from the tribe Muqassira were also present. Mahmoodi, Allaan e Kulayni, Abu Haysum Dinari and Abu Ja’far Ahwal Hamdani were present amongst them and totally there were about thirty men. I didn’t know of any other pure-hearted Shia from their group except Mohammad bin Qasim Alavi Aqeeqi.
It was the sixth day of Zil Hijjah, 293 Hijrah, when suddenly a young man who was busy in circumambulation wearing two clothes of Ahraam and holding his shoes in his hand, came towards us. His reverence was overwhelming and we stood up involuntarily; all of us stood up from their positions without any exception and greeted him with Salaam. Then he sat down and looked towards his right and left, then said:
Do you people know what Imam Sadiq (A.S.) used to say in the supplication of Il’haah?
We asked: What was it?
He said: He used to say:
to bless Mohammad and his holy Progeny, and to give me relief and a point of exit for my affair.[1]
It is reported in the book ‘Al Junnatul Waqiya’ that Imam Mahdi (A.S.) said: Imam Sadiq (A.S.) used to recite this supplication every morning. [2]

and brought the day through His mercy.
3. It is narrated in Kafi3297‒23., through a chain of narrators, from Furaat Ibn
al-Ahnaf, who narrates from Imam Sadeq (a.s.) that he (a.s.) said, You may neglect to do anything, but never neglect saying the following prayer in mornings and evenings
allahumma inni asbahtu astaghfiruka
O Allah, I implore for You forgiveness

for purpose of winning Your mercy.
I disavow in Your presence the people cursed by You.
and grant him and us from Your presence a sustaining power.
allahumma il`an fulanan wa fulanan
O Allah, (please) curse so-and-so and so-and-so
walfiraqa almukhtalifata `ala rasulika
as well as the factions that have dissented from Your Messenger,
wa wulati al-amri ba`da rasulika
from the men of authority after Your Messenger,
wal-a'immati min ba`dihi wa shi`atihim
from the leaders who came after him, and from their partisans.
wa as'aluka alzziyadata min fadlika
I also beseech You from more favor,
wal-iqrara bima ja'a bihi min `indika
acknowledgement of what has come from You,

walmuhafazata `ala ma amarta bihi
and steadfastness in what You have ordered of.
la abtaghi bihi badalan
I neither intend to find another alternative than it
wa la ashtari bihi thamanan qalilan
nor do I take a mean price in exchange for it.
allahumma ihdini fiman hadayta
O Allah, (please) guide me among those whom You guide
wa qini sharra ma qadayta
and save me from the evil of what You have decided,
innaka taqdi wa la yuqda `alayka
for You decree and no one can decree against Your decree
wa la yudhallu man walayta
and no humiliation will ever afflict one whom You support.
tabarakta wa ta`alayta
Blessed by You and exalted by You.
subhanaka rabba albayti
Glory be to You, O Lord of the House.
taqabbal minni du`a'i
Accept my prayer.
wa ma taqarrabtu bihi ilayka min khayrin
As for whatever virtuous item through which I have sought nearness to You,
fada`ifhu li ad`afan kathiratan
(please) double it for me many folds.
wa atina min ladunka ajran `aziman
Grant us from Your Presence a great reward.

O my Lord, how excellent Your favors to me are!
wa a`zama ma a`taytani
How great Your donations to me are!
wa atwala ma `afaytani
How lasting the wellbeing with which You have endued me is!
wa akthara ma satarta `alayya
Too many times have You covered my faults!

wa mil'a ma sha'a rabbi wa radiya
as full as what my Lord wills and pleases,
wa kama yanbaghi liwajhi rabbi
and as it fits the Face of my Lord,
dhi aljalali wal-ikrami
the Lord of majesty and honoring.
:4. Muhammad ibn Fudayl has reported that he wrote a letter to Imam Muhammad al-Taqi (al-Jawad) (`a) asking him to teach him a supplicatory prayer. The Imam’s answer came: In mornings and evening, you may say the following statement:
اللَّهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱللَّهُ رَبِّيَ
allahu allahu allahu rabbi
Allah, Allah, Allah is my lord,
alrrahmanu alrrahimu
the All-beneficent and All-merciful.
la ushriku bihi shay'an
I do not admit any one as partner of Him.
You may then submit your requests.
The previous statement is thus an introductory to the beseeching for any request by the permission of Allah the All-exalted.
5.Recite Ayah al-Kursi (2:255), the last (four) verses of Surah al-Hashr (59:21-24), ten verses of Surah al-Saffat (No. 37), and the following holy verses and doxological statements following them:
O Living. O eternal, by your mercy, I seek your refuge (so give me refuge) and do not leave me to my self even for the blink of the eye, ever. And reform all my conditions.
SAHIFA MAHDI-
SUPPLICATION OF THE SHI'A, WHEN OUR MASTER RISES (May our souls be sacrificed for him)
In tradition, the holy Prophet (peace be on him and on his holy progeny) said: "whoever wanted to be secured from drowning, burnt and theft should recite the following in the morning":
By the name of Allah and His wishes, no one turns away evils except Allah, by the name of Allah and His wishes, no one that do convey goods except Allah, by the name of Allah and His wishes, what ever bounty one possess is from Allah, by the name of Allah and His wishes, there is no power nor strength except that of Allah the Exalted, the Greatest, blessing be on Muhammad and on his pure and holy progeny.
Whoever recites this supplication (3) three times in the morning shall be rescued from drowning, burnt and theft till the evening period, and whoever recite it (3) three times in the evening shall be rescued from burnt, drowning and theft till morning period.
Verily Khidr and Ilyas (peace be on them) usually meet in every occasion and departed each other with these very words.
"This is the slogan of my followers which differentiate them from my enemies when the Qa'im shall be coming out"[1]
[1]- Mikyaalil Makarim 1: 193, Bihar ul Anwaar: 39/24 .
From Usul Kafi
3296‒22. Abū ‘Alī al-Ash‘arī (‒) Muḥammad ibn ‘Abdi ‘l-Jabbār (‒)
Ṣafwān, whoever mentioned it [to him] that Abū ‘Abdillāh (‘a.s.) said [when]:
“I said to him: ‘Teach me something that I may recite when the day
dawns and when night falls.’ He [‘a.s.] said: ‘Say:
“All praise belongs to
Allāh Who does as He wishes and no one other than Him can do as he
wishes. All praise be to Allāh, the way Allāh loves to be praised. All praise
be to Allāh, just as He is deserving of it. O Allāh, make me enter upon every
good that you made Muḥammad and the Household of Muḥammad enter,
and take me out of every evil that you took Muḥammad and the Household
of Muḥammad out of it, and the blessing of Allāh be upon Muḥammad and
the Household of Muḥammad.”’”
3305‒31. From him (‒) Muḥammad ibn ‘Alī (‒) ‘Abdu ‘r-Raḥmān ibn
Abī Hāshim (‒) Abū Kḥadījah that Abū ‘Abdillāh (‘a.s.) said:
“Verily supplication before sunrise and sunset is an incumbent practice.
At dawn and sunset, one should say ten times: If he forgets to do
so, he should make up for it just as he makes up for the prayers that he
forgets to perform.
‘There is no deity but Allāh,
alone, without any partner. His is the Kingdom and all praise belongs to
Him. He gives life and causes death, He causes death and gives life, and He
is ever-living and does not die. In His hand is all good and He has power
over all things.’ Then he should say ten times: ‘I seek refuge with Allāh,the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing, from the whisperings of the devils and
I seek Your refuge, O Lord, from their presence near me, indeed Allāh is
All-Hearing, All-Knowing,’
3311‒37. al-Ḥusayn ibn Muḥammad (‒) Aḥmad ibn Isḥāq (‒) Sa‘dān
(‒) Dāwūd ar-Raqqī that Abū ‘Abdillāh (‘a.s.) said:
“Never stop reciting the following supplication thrice in the morning
and thrice in the evening: Indeed my father (‘a.s.) used to
say that this is one of the treasured supplications.”
‘O Allāh, place me in your protective shield
wherein You place those whom You wish.’
3 short Evening Duas
Second: Imam al-Sadiq (`a) is reported to have said: Whoever repeats the following three times in the evening, will be surrounded by one of the wings of Archangel Gabriel up to the next morning:
أَسْتَوْدِعُ ﭐللَّهَ ﭐلْعَلِيَّ ﭐلأَعْلَىٰ
astawdi`u allaha al`aliyya al-a`la
I entrust with Allah the Most High, the All-high,
aljalila al`azima
the All-majestic, and the All-great
nafsi wa man ya`nini amruhu
my self and whatever concerns me.
astawdi`u allaha nafsi
I entrust my self with Allah
almarhuba almakhufa
the feared, the dreaded,
almutada`di`a li`azamatihi kullu shay'in
and to Whose greatness all things submit.
Third: Imam al-Sadiq (`a) advised to enter your evening with the following prayer:
O Allah, I beseech You at the coming of Your night,
wa idbari naharika
the departure of Your daytime,
wa huduri salawatika
the presence of the prayers to You,
wa aswati du`a'ika
and the voices of supplications to You
an tusalliya `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin…
to bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad
You may now submit your requests.…
Tenth: Imam al-Sadiq (`a) is reported to have said to Dawud al-Raqqi: Do not miss repeating the following supplicatory prayer three times in mornings and three times in evenings:
اَللَّهُمَّ ٱجْعَلْنِي فِي دِرْعِكَ ٱلْحَصِينَةِ
allahumma ij`alni fi dir`ika alhasinati
O Allah, (please) include me with Your invulnerable shield
allati taj`alu fiha man turidu
with which You include whomever You want.
The Imam (`a) added: My father (`a) has said, “This is one of the divinely ordered supplicatory prayers.” From Usul Kafi
Ibrāhīm al-Ja‘farī said:
“I heard Aba ‘l-Ḥasan (‘a.s.) saying: ‘When night is about to fall and you
see the sun in the west, about to set, then say this:
This is a security from seven [afflictions], and from the accursed Satan and his offspring.’
“In the name of Allāh, the Beneficent, the Merciful. All praise belongs to Allāh, Who never took a son
and has no partner in His kingdom. All praise be to Allāh, Who describes
and cannot be described, Who knows but cannot be known. He knows the
treacherous gazes and what is hidden in the hearts, [Qur., 40:19]. I seek refuge
with Allāh’s bountiful countenance and with Allāh’s great name, from the evil
in what is created and released, from the evil that is under the earth, from the
manifest and hidden evil, from the evil of the night and day, from the evil of
Abū Murrah (Satan) and his offspring, from the evil of the beguiling corruptor,
and from the evil of what I have described and what I have nor described; for
all praise belongs to Allāh, Lord of the worlds.”
